Greetings! We are pleased to present to you the 6th edition of Kick and Conserve 2022 which will be
held at CITAM Buruburu. This years’ theme, ACTNOW presents an effort to create a widespread
and effective sport for development curriculum that educates on ten actionable steps that people can
take to reduce their personal carbon footprint. ActNOW is a campaign by the United Nations and its
champions for individual action on climate change and sustainability.
To preserve a liveable climate, greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced to net zero by 2050. It may
seem quite unattainable, but to make this goal achievable, bold, fast and wide ranging actions need to
be taken by governments and businesses. Most importantly, the transition to low-carbon requires the
participation of citizens especially in advanced economies. Each and everyone of us possess the
capacity to help limit global warming and take care of our planet. As a result, we need to make
choices that have less harmful effects on the environment by becoming part of the solution and
With that in mind, the 6th edition of the Kick and Conserve tournament will be a lesson on how to
become environmentally literate with our focus on greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, we will
have environmental literacy sessions taking place outside on the field while other matches are going
on. Since we are teaching through play, each team will have a captain who will be responsible for
ensuring that all his/her teammates are present during the environmental literacy training
(accountability). Each team will be awarded 15 points for attending sessions.
Each session will take 12 minutes per team and by the end of the session, the participants should be
- Identify 10 actionable steps they can take to reduce their carbon footprint.
