We give Children opportunity to plant a tree in their primary school life…

Environmental literacy program has tournaments that are tailored to provide environmental awareness. We stress the fragility of our environment, the importance of its conservation and the roles we all can play as environmental stewards. The program involves Environmental Discussion Sessions, Environmental Games and Fair Play (football). For a team to emerge winners, they must take part in each activity and gain enough points to move on.

Environmental Literacy is the desired outcome of environmental education which strives to provide learners with: Sound scientific information. Skills for critical thinking. Creative and strategic problem solving.

Why should environmental education be a lifelong process? Environmental Education is a holistic, lifelong learning process directed at creating responsible citizens who explore and identify environmental issues, engage in problem solving, and take action effectively to improve the environment.

The main purpose of environmental literacy is to help develop and expand children’s critical thinking skills, prepare them for citizenship, and nurture their appreciation of the environment.

Green-Kenya, in partnership with 10 Billion Strong through fiscal sponsorships by the U.S Department of State, via the U.S Embassy in Kenya is implementing a U.S-Africa Green Leaders Academy program for emerging Environmental leaders in Kenyan university students.

The U.S.-Africa Green Leaders Academies is an eight-month program designed to train and connect emerging environmental leaders in the United States and Africa. We are convening 15 Kenyan university students (virtual program) for eight months of environmental leadership training and collaboration. The U.S. students will choose a track based on theme and country and collaborate closely with students from one African country.

The program supports participants in gaining an understanding of the most pressing environmental issues impacting their communities and the planet and developing personal and civic efficacy, as well as crucial social connections to support environmental actions. This program will offer Kenyan university students to collaborate directly with a group of U.S. university students.

The program will include the following elements:
  • November 1, 2022 – Application due.
  • November 11, 2022-January 27, 2023 – Online Green Leaders Academy – preparing emerging youth leaders to understand key environmental issues, develop their leadership skills, and learn how to use civic engagement to effectively address environmental challenges. Approximately 20 hours of content during this period.
  • February-March 2023 – Specialized training on eco-entrepreneurship in Kenya. Approximately 10 hours of content during this period
  • March-June 2023 – African community projects implemented by students in-country with virtual support from U.S. students.
